Our story
Antiquarian Artisan – The Profession That Chose Me in 2015 In 2010, at 55 years old, I started my own business (in addition to working full-time) to help pay for my youngest son’s college making wire rings. At a show in 2015, a customer brought me her broken family dishes and asked me to make jewelry for her. I said I didn’t know how. She said, “I believe you can figure it out.” Becoming a Self-Taught Artisan – Without YouTube or Pinterest Help I borrowed a pair of glass nippers and cut the dishes by hand and used my husband’s bench grinder to smooth the edges. I asked my husband to drill holes in the top of each piece. The customer loved them and I was encouraged to keep on learning. In 2016 I began to sell repurposed vintage dishes as jewelry at local craft shows. Soon I had sold enough of these pieces to buy a water-fed band saw then a water-fed grinder. Business picked up at shows and we began doing custom orders with family china. In 2018, I hired my oldest son to do the edge grinding and help with shows. Now, 11 years later we are a family owned and operated business helping preserve precious family memories using their family china.
