Our story

Custom Craftsmanship with Deep Roots in Coastal Living Located in Knotts Island, North Carolina, Back Bay Woodworking and Designs is a husband-and-wife business founded in 2021. We specialize in custom wooden flags, layered wooden maps, signs, challenge coin holders, wedding and birth announcements, and custom laser engraving. We make every piece ourselves with pride and attention to detail. Meet the Makers Anita grew up in a Navy family, moving among several coastal communities during her father’s military career. These experiences shaped her appreciation for coastal living and the military community. Anita handles all the painting, bringing each creation to life with color and detail. Lee grew up in a commercial fishing family and spent much of his life on the water. With several retired military members in his family, he has a strong appreciation for those who serve our country. Lee is a fifth-generation decoy carver who began carving at just 10 years old. His family traditions and lifelong woodworking experience inspire the craftsmanship behind our business As a husband-and-wife team, we take pride in creating personalized, meaningful pieces rather than mass-prod
